The Edible Garden Project
We love The Edible Garden Project (EGP) for its commitment to food gardening, a form of education that seeks to enhance fruit and vegetable production. At its core, EGP supports individuals and families in need by supplying access to fresh, locally grown foods.
With four main projects on Vancouver’s North Shore, EGP works to maximize unused garden space both on private and public lands. Here, EGP encourages people to who grow gardens to tack on an extra row for donation – these crop yields are later distributed to organizations that serve communities in need.
With a vast calendar of local events ranging from workshops on “Backyard Seed Saving” to training programs that provide the tools to overhaul school lunch programs in your neighbourhood, EGP is building a network rooted in growing and sharing local food.
